My Story

I held a brush for the first time towards the end of  2020 during the Corona pandemic lockdown. Little did I know that I would fall in love with creating ART! I  still consider myself an amateur artist and creating art remains my hobby. Nevertheless, I desire to create art that reflects my personality, emotions, everyday experience and perceptions of the world.

Welcome to my creative world, where my interaction with you is a source of inspiration for my future creations!

ABOUT ME AS AN ARTIST

Hey, I'm Diana Stuermer, an amateur artist. I love to experiment, explore new horizons, and push my creative limits to offer works that are always original and singular!

I was born in Kisumu, Kenya. I lived in Kenya until the age of 18, moving to Russia to complete my university studies in software engineering.  Upon graduation, I travelled across Europe, North America, and the Middle East for work and further studies. I am now settled in Europe.

I was aware of my passion for story-telling and writing since childhood and I have written a number of stories, however, my love for art my love and painting came as a surprise to me and I am loving every bit of this thrilling adventure!

I come from a culture where colour is symbolic for life.

Fabric design, architecture design and hair design have been the most prevelant explosion of colour i ever seen. In my country of origin Kenya, ethnic tribes tribe like the Maasai colour their hair with red-ochred earth and decorate their mud huts with coloured cow dung! I grew up loving colour, brightness and warmth. Hence you notice that my art is expressed in a similar way and i dare to say i am not afraid of colour. To me it is the an essential part of life! My world lights up through creation, expression, and the emotions that art can evoke. My work focuses on a particular element that fascinates me: the colours of life. I paint in colours I see around me.

In fact, nature is a constant source of inspiration for me. I enjoy observing how texture, color, and form evolve over seasons and time. Therefore, the natural appearance of various materials has naturally become the guiding thread of my artistic work. My practice consists of a reinterpretation of the perception of space and color. I use visual elements and principles of color, line, light texture, structure, and movement to create unique and expressive works.

I love to experiment, explore new horizons, and push my creative limits to offer works that are always more original and singular. I need your help to explore my potential through your feedback and encouragement!

During my free time, when I am not painting, writing, hiking, sightseeing or reading, you will find me at a Yoga studio!
